Louise Gibbens

Born in Hampshire, Louise began playing the violin at the age of 9. At the age of 12 she became a member of the Hampshire County Youth Orchestra and toured with them to East Germany and the Czech Republic.

Louise completed her studies at Trinity College of Music, studying with Andrew Sherwood and  graduating in 2010. Since graduating Louise has enjoyed freelancing and teaching in London. She often plays in the chamber orchestra St Paul’s Sinfonia who regularly have concerts in London and more recently performed at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. Louise also enjoys performing with FeMusa String Ensemble and has performed with this group in Azerbaijan, Paris and London.

Louise is passionate about all genres of music and often works with dynamic and unique Japanese DJ Massaki  Yoshida who performs with a live string quartet. She travelled to Istanbul with Masaaki performing at the Akbank Jazz Festival and has performed with him at the HMV Forum in Kentish Town and at KOKO in Camden supporting The Portico Quartet.

Louise more recently recorded strings for a soon to be released Boy George track and had the pleasure of working with Annie Lennox for a performance on BBC Radio 2’s Jo Whiley Show, and performed with her on Strictly Come Dancing. She can also be heard playing on the international film trailers for Mike Leigh’s Another Year and Rowan Joffes Brighton Rock.

Louise is extremely passionate about working with young children and has gained a wide experience of teaching violin in schools in London. She has been working with London Music Masters since 2013.
