Coming up in 2018/19…
In this, the second half of our 10th anniversary year, we are filling the schedule with opportunities for our students and schools to work with some of the best in the business. Superstar musicians conductor Marin Alsop, violinist Nicola Benedetti and cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason will visit our schools to work with, inspire and be inspired by our young musicians.
We are also excited to be launching our very first artist residency in partnership with our Creative Partner YCAT, featuring violinist Benjamin Baker. Benjamin is creating a year-long programme for students at Ashmole School inspired by repertoire and musical themes that drive his current practice. Later in the year, our Pathways students will collaborate with LPO Junior Artists on a new ensemble project. Pathways identifies outstanding musicians from our schools who come from communities under-represented in classical music and have the potential to audition successfully at junior conservatoires. So successful is this programme that we currently have 11 Pathways alumni studying at junior conservatoires. This year, for the first time, LPO Junior Artists features two Pathways alumni so it is particularly exciting to be able to collaborate with them in this way. Working with young and emerging artists is vital for our student musicians, and has a tangible effect on their performance level.
We look forward to raising the bar once again this coming year through our partnerships with artists and orchestras, and I hope that you will be able to join us to hear the difference that these brilliant role models can have. One special date for your diary is an evening concert on 3 December at Ashmole Primary School with Harlem Quartet. For more information and to book tickets, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
