Rachel graduated from the University of Manchester with First Class Honours in music in 2007. During her studies she specialised in ethnomusicology, which included a community project and field research in Fiji to support her dissertation. After travelling for 18 months upon graduation, Rachel returned to London to work for the educational publisher Hotcourses, before joining the LMM team in March 2010.

Rachel is actively involved in a number of charities and is the music events co-ordinator for the Hotcourses Foundation, a charity that supports education for HIV/AIDS affected children in Kenya. She is also currently studying for a Certificate in Professional Practice in Effective Voluntary Sector Management at Roehampton University.

Rachel also performs regularly on alto saxophone with the South London Jazz Orchestra.
