Hui-Ti Wang (Eric) was born in Taipei, Taiwan. He has won several competitions and awards including, most notably, the Mozart Junior Competition, and he was awarded 2nd prize at the Taiwan National Violin Competition.
Eric came to England in 1996 and studied at The Purcell School and Royal College of Music with the aid of a scholarship and bursary under Professor Itzhak Rashkovsky. For three years running he earned top mark in his class for the technical examinations, and was awarded the Martin scholarship for the final year of his studies. Whilst studying at the Royal College of Music, Eric won many awards and competitions include the Tai Foundation National Violin Competition in Taiwan (2001), and the Outstanding Merit Diploma at the International Sion-Valais Violin Competition in 2003. Eric went on to win The Ricci Foundation's inaugural Annual Award in February 2004, and as a result, was invited to participate in a celebratory master class presented by the Foundation and given by its patron, the virtuoso violinist Ruggiero Ricci. Eric was also invited to play ‘Spring' from Vivaldi's Four Seasons at the Bowdoin Summer Music Festival in 2005 under the direction of Lewis Kaplan of The Julliard School.
Over the past few years, Eric has performed recitals at St John's, Smith Square and the Barbican Hall. He has toured with Maestro Paolo Olmi and the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra, and has recently been invited to give recitals in Ipoh, Penang and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.
Currently, Eric holds the Guildhall Artist Fellowship and has received a Master's Degree with Distinction under the Head of Strings Professor Jacqueline Ross at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He is also a Concordia Foundation Award Winner. Eric is currently on trial for Principle No.2 of the 2nd Violin with BBC Concert Orchestra and Ulster Orchestra.
Eric currently plays a Nicolaus Gagliano, 1756 violin generously lent by the Chi-Mei Foundation in Taiwan.
